The Broadway revival of Les Miserables will close on September 4, 2016, but first one of the UK’s biggest musical theatre Stars will tread the boards as Jean Valjean.

The production began previews on March 1, 2014 at the Imperial Theatre. The tuner currently stars Alfie Boe, who will play the role of Jean Valjean through February 28.

Boe will be succeeded by Welsh Star John Owen-Jones, who is currently headlining as London’s Phantom. JOJ Stars as JVJ from March 1 through September.

At 26, John became the youngest actor ever to play the role of Jean Valjean in the West End production of Les Miz.

He is one of a handful of actors to have played the role of Valjean both in the West End and on Broadway (in 2007) and he reprised the role for the 25th Anniversary new production of Les Miz in its UK tour in 2010.

Owen-Jones has one of the most beautiful, powerful and impressive voices in theatrical history.

Jones is London’s longest-running Phantom with nearly 2,000 performances in the role.

John returned to play the role of Jean Valjean in a brand new production of Les Miserables for its 25th anniversary tour and was awarded the Manchester Evening News Award for the Best Actor in a Visiting Production for his performance as Jean Valjean.

John was also part of the Valjean quartet featured in the finale of the Les Miserables 25th Anniversary Concert at the O2 Arena, London.
