Enjoy our MercatBar Restaurant Valencia Review. This eatery offers classic tapas with a modern twist served to a gourmet standard.
This very cool, modern….yet warm and inviting restaurant offers some unique, innovative and very exciting flavours.
Located right in the centre of Valencia, Mercatbar certainly pushes Valencian gastronomy to the next level.
House specialities includes their Patatas bravas, langontisnos and incredible foie gras.
I was massively impressed with the bar & dining room. The service was also exceptionally attentive and helpful.

To begin I loved the tuna ‘in a tin’ which was the most delicious tinned tuna I’d ever tasted. The oil was divine. It was simply melt in your mouth quality!
I also sampled the Russian Salad which was incredibly moreish. Normall this wouldn’t be my first choice but it was a real treat and leagues above any other ‘Russian Salad’ I’d previously tasted.
Also, as an amuse bouche I was given the most beautiful souffle filled ‘pie’. It’s a mouthful of incredible flavour and texture.
Then the fun begins….
The highlight of the entire meal for me was the most original foie gras Crystal bread (crustini) with honey syrup & dried apricots. Totally decadent and one of the most delicious dishes I’ve been served in a very long time.
Next, Chef offered a mushroom and foie gras ‘cup’ – again, totally delicious and created through time, love and great knowledge of gastronomy….
For the entrees I sampled the Marcatbar cannelloni and the crispy fried shrimp. I was told you could eat the entire shrimp whole, which was a step too far for me, but never the less delicious.
Finally I tried the totally unique pork and beef burger which was cooked incredibly rare. It’s not to everyone’s taste but it is a million miles above any ‘fast food’ chain burger.
The burger came with delicious crispy cut fries and gorgeous sauteed onions with various sauces on the side…
I truly admire the tenacity, ambition and skill of Mercatbar Valencia.
The foie gras dishes were the Stars of the meal made with incredible craftsmanship.
Finish your meal with the ‘Caramelised Catalan Cream’ – a traditional Valencia dessert cooked to perfection….
