We get to hear all of her number 1 songs including “Vision of Love,” “Hero,” “Fantasy,” “We Belong Together” and “Touch My Body” are among the 18 #1 hits during her career.
She will now perform over 200 concerts over the next 2 years at Caesars.
Mariah Carey has achieved a feat that no other solo artist has paralleled in music history.
This show is beautifully produced. The set is seamless, the lighting is divine and Mariah’s costumes are naturally fabulous.
No-one can deny Mariah unprecedented success and popularity. Tonight the Colosseum was sold out. I haven’t seen that since Celine.
Her tones are certainly an acquired taste, At times during some of the ‘squealy’ bits I wondered if Ms. Carey had become a parody of herself – what do I know the audience loved it.
There’s no question Mariah can sing, some songs better than others. It almost doesn’t matter – you’re in the presence of greatness.
To hear those classic numbers ones recreated Live was a true thrill and honour.
The band were as good as you’d expect at the Colosseum sound is truly the best in the world.
A slight note of warning – this is not Celine, Elton or Rod – the audience are rowdy, loud, informally dressed (shorts really???) and verging on badly behaved.
Clearly the notion of sitting quietly and enjoy the magical performance had passed them by. Maybe some the worst for drink.
The group of ladies in front of me refused to sit down for the entire performance despite being formally asked to take a seat. This undoubtedly ruined the show for 100’s of people behind.
I couldn’t see the stage at all when sat down, let alone Mariah’s tiny frame.
Nevertheless, the audience were passionate and knew every single word – that is hugely moving at times.
Adience participation is clearly perfectly acceptable for Carey’s crowd….even the subtle ballads. Sinatra would not have approved!
The lighting is truly magnificent and makes for a hugely polished and compelling show.
Mariah is a Star and the adoration she receives is unsurprising and mostly deserved.
At times Carey is a little self-indulgent musically riffing intros to songs and her ponderous thoughts but I guess that’s her privilege and makes her who she is!
3.5 Stars for Ms. Carey – 4.5* for the set, lighting, band and production & 1* to the audience!
